In this role, you will help build and implement sustainable, best-in-class compensation programs across the University as we establish a new Total Rewards Center of Excellence. You will collaborate with the broader HR team and University community on a variety of related projects including the design and implementation of a new staff Compensation and Classification System. You will stay abreast of trends and best practices to seek and recommend continuous improvements. This position reports to the HR Associate Director of Compensation: Erika Chin.
This position has the opportunity of working a weekly hybrid schedule (3 days on campus/2 days remote).

Key Responsibilities:
Consulting and Operations
As a collaborative and customer-focused team member with a passion for excellence, assist staff managers, HR Liaisons to Units, and HR team members with ad-hoc compensation related requests for review and analysis. Track and monitor requests, maintaining appropriate documentation. Process pay-related transactions in Workday on a timely basis, ensuring accuracy.
Develop and maintain subject matter expertise to provide ongoing consulting to the community on compensation. Stay abreast of and recommend best practices.
Partner with the Talent team and others upon request to advise on offers for new roles with internal equity and market competitiveness.
Manage survey participation, including all data gathering and completion of submission files for assigned surveys ensuring accurate, relevant benchmark matches.
Partner on the rollout of the annual Salary Review Planning cycle in Workday, assisting HR and managers with questions. Recommend and test enhancements; recommend reporting. Serve as a point of contact for HR and managers on compensation-related questions to ensure a smooth, effective process and decision-making.
Help manage compensation programs, processes and Job Profiles ensuring compliance with internal policies and local labor laws. Create and update Job Profiles.
Design
Contribute to the design and delivery of major compensation initiatives including:
the design and implementation of a new University-wide staff compensation and classification system, and
developing and delivering both formal and informal ad hoc training.
Analytics
Review job descriptions and conduct benchmarking for new roles using a data driven approach to developing market competitive pay ranges. Summarize analytics reviewing internal equity and external competitiveness by unit, job title, etc.
Mine the analytics and reporting capabilities of the University’s staff market data warehouse to provide meaningful information.
Assist with data gathering, modeling and analysis for compensation initiatives. Recommend and participate in creating periodic compensation dashboard/metric reports. Provide analytics and summaries; make the data meaningful – tell a story to identify key findings, implications, and the “call to action” with the business rationale.
Education & Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5+ years of directly related full-time work experience in the field of Compensation in an HR Department, e.g., in a job such as Associate Compensation Analyst, Compensation Analyst or similar role.
What you need to succeed

Willingness to roll up your sleeves, enter information in Workday, update Job Profiles with a “whatever it takes” mindset.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability and desire to turn data into actionable information.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform independent analysis and turn data into meaningful information, i.e., tell the story behind the numbers
Excellent attention to detail with a measured sense of urgency.
Proficiency with MS Office applications, particularly Excel. Previous experience with Workday and Market Pay/Pay Scale or a similar compensation warehouse application is preferred.
