What You'll Do
The Director, Compensation is responsible for direction and oversight of university compensation programs and policies that are competitive, contribute to positive employee engagement and are aligned with the organization’s Human Resources rewards strategy. Evaluates, develops, implements and administers base, executive, bonus and recognition programs. Leads strategic compensation projects. Manages staff, makes hiring decisions, provides ongoing coaching, development and performance management, and determines staffing needs.
Essential Functions:
Evaluates compensation programs to determine and recommend any necessary changes
Assesses competitive positioning, assembles research, prepares cost/benefit analyses and examines alignment with long-term compensation reward strategy
Develops and presents to senior management annual recommendations for the university’s compensation program.
Leads strategic compensation related projects, managing and driving major change initiatives
Provides direction and oversight to the university’s annual merit process and system
Oversees the administration of the university’s job classification program, annual merit process, executive compensation, lump sum bonus plan and other recognition/reward programs assuring high quality and timely services
Manages and develops staff of Compensation professionals in the delivery of high quality services
Develops, interprets and provides guidance concerning compensation policies and practices
Manages senior management compensation client portfolio completing compensation reviews, providing recommendations for promotions, market and equity requests and collaborating with Secretary of the Corporation as necessary for Board of Trustee approvals
Prepares effective communications to assist with annual merit process and ensures general compensation program content posted to website or provided to Support Services is updated and accurate
Seeks ways continually to improve process and procedure, in collaboration with other HR leaders
Submits input for annual budget preparation and effectively manages department and university compensation program
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years’ related experience
Comprehensive compensation knowledge and experience including experience administering executive compensation pay plans.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise HR information systems. Demonstrated knowledge and skills with compensation systems and applications
Strong people management skills and experience managing HR professionals
Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills with ability to develop and present to executive audiences
Pay Range
Minimum $149,800.00, Midpoint $187,250.00, Maximum $224,700.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
